Sheila Penrose is a Director of three corporate boards: McDonald’s, Jones Lang LaSalle, and DataCard
Group. She is Chairman of the Board of Jones Lang LaSalle, chairs two board committees and serves on
six others. She co-founded and co-chairs Corporate Leadership Center. A frequent speaker on leadership and governance issues, Sheila keynoted the Strategic Management Society's global conference.
Sheila was the first woman member of Northern Trust Corporation's Management Committee and, from 1994 to 2000, was President of Corporate and Institutional Services, a billion dollar business with client assets of $1.5 trillion in more than 80 markets worldwide. Under her leadership the business was transformed from a product organization to one organized around client segments, and net income grew 17% annually. She represented Northern Trust with the investor community, oversaw several acquisitions and drove the bank's global expansion during her 23 year career there.
Before moving to the United States, Sheila was economic advisor to the British Treasury, a member of the negotiating team for the UK’s agreement with the IMF and an advisor on budget policy and anti-inflation strategies in the aftermath of the world oil crisis.
Education
Sheila began her career in education, serving as lecturer in Economics at Central London Polytechnic, United Kingdom. She has a degree in economics and a graduate diploma in education from the University of Birmingham, England, and a masters degree from London School of Economics and Political Science. She attended the Executive Program at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Non-Profit
In addition to her role as Co-Chairman of Corporate Leadership Center, Sheila has served on numerous not for profit boards. Currently, she is on the advisory board of London School of Economics and is a trustee of Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Rush Medical Center and Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
Sheila is also a board member of The Chicago Club and a member of Chicago Network, National Association of Corporate Directors, Civic Committee, Commercial Club, Executives Club and Economic Club of Chicago.

Sheila has been profiled in industry and business periodicals. She is the recipient of the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame, Anti-Defamation League Woman of Achievement, Girl Scouts Luminary, Midtown Metro Leader and YWCA Lifetime Achievement Awards.
